Mission
Our mission is to foster a positive, encouraging, informative and interactive program for middle and high school girls to help them to learn how to apply Christian principals to their daily lives.
History
The history of Diamonds in the Rough is really His story, the true story of the life of Christ, who offers us a very clear way to love others and to live. Knowing the difficulties we all often face, we saw a need to help young girls learn how to handle some of the many problems, social pressures and challenges that confront them daily. We have seen first hand that disruptions in the family unit have forced teen girls to the streets, to unwanted pregnancies and low self-esteem. With servant spirits and loving hearts, we were compelled to help them in any way we could, and we believed that the most important thing we could do was to teach them about God and how to apply the Word of God to their daily lives – to know how to respond in the right way to whatever the world throws.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Our founding principles are those set forth in the word of God, with an emphasis on the fruit of the spirit – joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. With a deep core, to the heart, understanding of God’s love and to know that to Him each young girl matters, achieving the fruits of the spirit is possible - regardless of the troubles that may come.
Through hands on activities, role playing and continued instruction, Christian principals and the fruit of the Spirit will become achievable attributes and a way of life. Acts of kindness will become the norm rather than random afterthoughts. We also participate in community service projects, like a peanut butter and jelly drive for the local food bank, breast cancer awareness program, a bingo social for retirement home residents. Lastly, we will have enriching programs that teach the girls life enrichment lessons like cooking on a shoestring budget, sewing and the value of money. Sometimes, we’ll just talk and have a little fun in the Lord.
